C.H. Robinson waives fees for fuel cards and cash advances
C.H. Robinson (NASDAQ: CHRW) announced it will waive fees for its discount fuel cards and cash advances for fuel during April and May to help carriers manage rising diesel costs.
The logistics company cited sharply increased diesel prices since the start of conflict in the Middle East as the reason for the temporary fee waiver. Michael Castagnetto, president of North American Surface Transportation, said fuel typically represents 20% to 28% of truck operating costs.
The C.H. Robinson Fuel Card provides discounts at thousands of truck stops across the United States, offering savings of up to $385 per fill and up to $9,000 annually per truck. The company will waive the application fee for carriers applying in April and May, with approval typically taking three to five business days.
The company also offers cash advances allowing carriers to receive up to 60% of their pay after picking up a load. Fees for advances requested on the fuel card will be waived during the two-month period. Cash advances can be requested through the Navisphere Carrier app or website.
C.H. Robinson manages 37 million shipments annually and maintains contracts with 450,000 carriers. The company noted that nearly 60% of carriers in its network are owner-operators.
Both new and existing C.H. Robinson carriers are eligible for the fee waivers. The company said carriers must choose to have cash advances loaded onto the fuel card to receive the free advance.
