Superpower partners with GRAIL to offer multi-cancer blood test
Superpower announced a partnership with GRAIL Inc. (NASDAQ: GRAL) to provide members access to the Galleri multi-cancer early detection blood test through its health platform.
The Galleri test can detect signals from more than 50 cancer types using a blood sample and predicts the cancer signal origin to guide diagnostic workup. The test requires a prescription and is recommended for adults with elevated cancer risk, such as those aged 50 or older.
Data from GRAIL's PATHFINDER 2 study showed that adding Galleri to standard screenings increased cancer detection more than seven-fold, with over half of detected cancers at stage I or II. The study represents the largest U.S. multi-cancer early detection interventional study to date.
"Our partnership with GRAIL represents a fundamental shift, giving people the ability to screen for cancer signals before symptoms appear, when intervention can be most effective," said Prabhat Dhar, EVP Enterprise at Superpower.
Current cancer screening standards address only five cancer types, leaving approximately 86% of cancers undetected by standard tests like mammograms and colonoscopies. Early-onset cancers diagnosed before age 50 have increased nearly 80% globally since 1990.
Superpower integrates the Galleri test with its biomarker panel of over 100 markers, AI-powered insights, and clinical care teams. Members can complete blood draws through Quest Diagnostics' network of approximately 3,000 patient access points or at home.
"Superpower's integrated approach combining comprehensive biomarker testing with multi-cancer early detection represents the future of proactive health management," said Dr. Josh Ofman, President of GRAIL.
The Galleri test has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration and should be used in addition to routine cancer screening tests recommended by healthcare providers.
