Shutterstock launches content app in ChatGPT for licensed assets
Shutterstock Inc. (NYSE: SSTK) announced the launch of its application within ChatGPT, allowing users to access images, videos, music, and sound effects from the company's content library directly through the AI platform.
The app enables users to discover and preview licensable content within ChatGPT conversations without redirecting to external websites. Users can search for commercial-ready assets while working on projects, with content available for licensing through Shutterstock.com.
"Our customers trust Shutterstock as a leading source of high-quality, licensable content, powered by sophisticated AI technology," said Paul Teall, Vice President, Marketplace Strategy at Shutterstock. "This launch brings commercial confidence directly in ChatGPT, enabling teams to move from discovery to content production."
The integration targets users who begin creative workflows within AI platforms. OpenAI processes more than one billion queries daily, according to the press release. The app allows marketers, creators, and businesses to identify content needs and access licensed materials within the same conversation.
Shutterstock positions the launch as part of its strategy to embed licensed content into AI-driven workflows. The company provides data licensing services for AI model training, offering access to multimodal datasets with content provenance documentation for AI compliance.
The app represents Shutterstock's effort to integrate its content library into emerging AI platforms rather than requiring users to navigate traditional web-based search experiences. The company describes this as positioning itself as a "licensed content layer" within AI ecosystems.
