April 1, 2026 8:49 AM

AeroVironment Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV) announced its selection by the U.S. Navy to provide contractor-owned, contractor-operated intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance services for naval operations.

Under the Navy's initiative to expand ISR capabilities, AeroVironment will compete for delivery orders alongside other selected industry partners to provide persistent surveillance support using autonomous platforms and multi-sensor integration.

The company will deploy its JUMP 20-X Group 3 vertical take-off and landing uncrewed aircraft system for the contract. The platform operates autonomously for more than 13 hours with a 115-mile range and 30-pound payload capacity. The system supports more than 70 different payload configurations and operates without bulky launch and recovery equipment.

"We are honored to be selected as a partner to help the U.S. Navy expand its ISR services and enhance mission-critical awareness for warfighters around the globe," said Shane Hastings, vice president of medium uncrewed systems at AeroVironment.

AeroVironment has previously provided ISR support services to U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command, the U.S. Marine Corps 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, and the Korean Navy, according to the company's announcement.

The Arlington, Virginia-based company develops autonomous systems, loitering munitions, counter-drone technologies, and cyber warfare capabilities for defense applications.
