Apollo funds acquire UK residential platform Gatehouse Living Group
Apollo Global Management (NYSE: APO) announced that Apollo-managed funds have acquired Gatehouse Living Group, a UK residential investment and management platform, from Gatehouse Bank. The company did not disclose financial terms of the transaction.
Gatehouse Living Group operates as a vertically integrated platform comprising Gatehouse Investment Management and property management arm Ascend Properties. The group provides services to originate and manage build-to-rent single family housing for institutional investors.
The platform has established five investment platforms and exited three, acquiring more than 5,000 homes from UK housebuilders. Through Ascend Properties, the group manages more than 10,000 homes nationwide for itself and third-party clients, with nearly 4,000 operated under the Ascend Living brand.
"GLG has led the growth of institutional rental housing, creating a prominent platform that strategically supports the sector and accelerates the delivery of much-needed high-quality housing throughout the UK," said Paul Stockwell, Chief Executive Officer of Gatehouse Living Group.
Edward Jones, Partner at Apollo, stated that the group "has established itself as a vertically integrated leader in the UK housing sector, supporting the supply of high-quality, professionally managed rental homes."
Gatehouse Living Group will continue under CEO Paul Stockwell and its existing management team. The group will be rebranded with a future announcement. The platform will invest its own capital and that of third-party partners while maintaining property management services for external institutional portfolios.
The acquisition expands Apollo's UK housing investments, which include affiliate platform Foundation Home Loans and portfolio company Miller Homes. Gibson Dunn served as legal counsel to the Apollo funds in the transaction.
As of December 31, 2025, Apollo had approximately $938 billion of assets under management.
