Palladyne AI to demonstrate drone swarm technology at defense exercise
Palladyne AI (NASDAQ: PDYN) announced its invitation to participate in Northern Strike 26-2, a Department of War joint exercise scheduled for August 2-14, 2026, at the National All-Domain Warfighting Center.
The exercise will involve more than 9,000 participants and serves as a validation environment for emerging technologies. Palladyne will demonstrate its SwarmOS and IntelliSwarm technologies using multiple unmanned aerial vehicles from different manufacturers, including its Gremlin-X mini bomber UAV.
The demonstration will feature at least three UAV original equipment manufacturer partners operating through a single Android Team Awareness Kit managing four UAVs. The system aims to enable cross-platform collaboration without centralized command and control.
"This is not a lab demonstration," said Doug Dynes, President of Palladyne Aerospace and Defense. "This is live, operational validation in one of the most demanding training environments in the world. We are proving that autonomous systems from different manufacturers can operate as a cohesive, intelligent strike and sensing force without reliance on centralized command and control."
The exercise will test capabilities including decentralized decision-making, real-time mission adaptation, and single-interface command and control across different UAV classes and manufacturers.
Northern Strike is a Joint National Training Capability-accredited exercise designed to test technologies across contested, multi-domain environments. The National All-Domain Warfighting Center at Camp Grayling was designated as the Drone Dominance Range in the National Defense Authorization Act.
Palladyne AI develops artificial intelligence and autonomy solutions for defense and industrial markets, with operations based in the United States.
