Cascades Inc. (TSX: CAS) completed the sale of 10,500 hectares of private forest lands in Quebec to Société de gestion d'actifs forestiers Solifor for $20 million on March 31, 2026, according to a company statement.

The transaction involves forest properties in Kamouraska and Témiscouata that Cascades had managed for over 25 years. The agreement includes provisions to secure long-term supply for Cascades' Cabano plant through access to Solifor's larger forest holdings in the region.

"This partnership is a natural and beneficial step for both our organizations," said Hugues Simon, President and CEO of Cascades. "We have secured a reliable supply that will help our Cabano plant stay competitive."

André Gravel, President and CEO of Solifor, said the acquired lands fit into Solifor's existing portfolio focused on sustainable forest management. Solifor manages over 210,000 hectares of private forest land across multiple Quebec regions and northern Maine.

Cascades operates approximately 60 production units in North America and employs around 9,000 people. The company has maintained operations in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region for more than 50 years. Solifor, a member of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ network, has operated in the region for over 15 years.

The partnership represents a strategic shift for Cascades to optimize its forest asset value while maintaining supply chain security for its manufacturing operations in Quebec.
