Parsons wins project management contract for Al Ittihad Sports Village
Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN) has been selected as the project management consultant for the Al Ittihad Sports Village development in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the company announced.
Al Ittihad Club Company, described as Saudi Arabia's oldest sports club, awarded the contract to Parsons for the integrated development located near King Abdullah Sports City. The project includes the club's headquarters, academy training pitches and facilities, performance development centers, administrative buildings, and commercial assets.
The development is designed to meet FIFA standards and international best practices, according to the company statement. The award advances the project's design phase and represents new work for Parsons.
"Parsons is proud to support Al Ittihad's next chapter in line with Saudi Vision 2030's Quality of Life Program which enables sports to flourish within the Kingdom," said Mark Otter, Managing Director and Regional Headquarters Lead of Parsons' operations in Saudi Arabia.
Parsons has operated in Saudi Arabia for nearly 70 years, beginning in 1958 with the design and delivery of Dhahran Airport, now known as King Abdulaziz Air Base. The company currently employs more than 3,000 people in the country.
The selection criteria included Parsons' ability to support infrastructure development in the region and incorporate connectivity and future growth potential into the project design, according to the press release.
