S&P Global launches private markets datasets with Cambridge Associates

March 31, 2026 4:02 PM

S&P Global Inc. (NYSE: SPGI) announced the launch of standardized performance datasets for private credit and real assets, developed in collaboration with Cambridge Associates and Mercer.

The datasets represent the first release from a collaboration the companies introduced in 2025. The standardized data covers thousands of funds and their underlying assets in private credit and real assets, with datasets for private equity and other asset classes planned for later in 2026.

The datasets operate on S&P Global's iLEVEL portfolio monitoring platform and utilize a proprietary private markets taxonomy to standardize, aggregate and anonymize data. The system is designed to help both limited partners and general partners analyze performance, identify trends and inform allocation decisions.

"This collaboration brings a more rigorous, standardized approach to the private markets ecosystem, transforming fragmented information into comparable intelligence that investors can use to assess performance, evaluate risk and make more disciplined investment decisions," said Saugata Saha, President of S&P Global Market Intelligence and Chief Enterprise Data Officer of S&P Global.

The datasets enable investors to compare performance across similar investments, manage risk through market and deal-level data, determine portfolio impact from market events, and access intelligence on asset valuation trends and deal activity.

Andrea Auerbach, Global Head of Private Investments at Cambridge Associates, stated that the solutions keep pace with the evolving private markets landscape. Rob Ansari, Global Head of Analytics and Portfolio Solutions at Mercer, emphasized the importance of comprehensive performance data as private markets grow.

The private credit and real assets datasets are available globally to investors for portfolio performance monitoring, risk management, asset allocation decisions, fundraising analysis and competitive insights. Future releases will include data feed APIs and integrated software solutions.
