Government of Canada expands BlackBerry partnership for secure communications
BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB) (TSX: BB) announced the renewal and expansion of its secure communications partnership with the Government of Canada. The multi-year agreement with Shared Services Canada increases deployment of BlackBerry SecuSUITE for mission-critical communications across federal departments and agencies.
The expanded agreement continues use of BlackBerry UEM while significantly broadening SecuSUITE deployment to support senior leaders, defense, national security officials, and public safety organizations operating in high-risk environments. BlackBerry SecuSUITE provides end-to-end secure voice and messaging designed for government and mission-critical environments.
"This agreement reflects the Government of Canada's continued trust in BlackBerry as a long-term strategic partner for secure communications," said John J. Giamatteo, CEO of BlackBerry.
The Honourable Jenna Sudds, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement, stated that the contract extension supports Canada's digital sovereignty objectives. "In light of evolving geopolitical risks, adopting a made-in-Canada approach to federal technology is increasingly important to strengthen our digital sovereignty and enhance Canada's global competitiveness," Sudds said.
The agreement supports Canada's strategy to strengthen domestic defense and security capabilities through investment in Canadian-built technologies. BlackBerry SecuSUITE operates without reliance on consumer messaging platforms and is designed for contested settings requiring interception-resistant communications.
According to the company, BlackBerry Secure Communications serves NATO, all G7 governments, most G20 members, and eight of the world's ten largest banks. The Waterloo, Ontario-based company provides software and services for enterprises and governments globally.
