Google launches Veo 3.1 Lite video generation model for developers
Google has released Veo 3.1 Lite, a video generation model designed for developers building high-volume video applications. The model is available through the Gemini API at less than 50% of the cost of the existing Veo 3.1 Fast model while maintaining the same processing speed.
The new model supports text-to-video and image-to-video generation with flexible aspect ratios including landscape (16:9) and portrait (9:16) formats. Video resolutions are available at 720p and 1080p, with customizable duration options of 4, 6, or 8 seconds. Pricing adjusts based on the selected duration.
Google will reduce pricing for the Veo 3.1 Fast model on April 7, according to the company's announcement. The Veo 3.1 Lite model is accessible through paid tiers on the Gemini API and Google AI Studio.
Alisa Fortin, Product Manager at Google DeepMind, and Guillaume Vernade, Gemini Developer Advocate at Google DeepMind, announced the release. The launch completes the Veo 3.1 model family, providing developers with different options based on their specific requirements.
Developer documentation detailing specifications for Veo 3.1 Lite and updated pricing information for Veo 3.1 Fast is available through Google's developer resources.
