Amazon launches new business credit cards with U.S. Bank
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced it will launch new Prime Business and Amazon Business credit cards this spring, transitioning from American Express to U.S. Bank (NYSE: USB) and the Mastercard (NYSE: MA) network.
The Prime Business Card will offer 5% cash back on Amazon purchases for Prime members, while the Amazon Business Card will provide 3% back for non-Prime customers. Both cards feature no annual fees and enhanced rewards for purchases outside Amazon, according to the company's press release.
Current American Express cardholders can continue using their existing cards while receiving communications about the transition process. Additional card benefits will be announced in coming months.
"Small businesses told us they wanted more ways to earn rewards wherever they shop and better tools to manage cash flow," said Tai Koottatep, director and general manager of Worldwide B2B Payments & Lending at Amazon.
The cards will integrate with Amazon Business purchasing and spend management tools. Amazon Business serves more than eight million organizations globally and generates over $35 billion in annualized gross sales.
U.S. Bank serves more than 1.4 million small business clients and ranks as one of the largest card issuers in the United States. The bank will provide the new cards as part of its small business banking services.
Mastercard will process transactions through its global network, which operates at hundreds of millions of locations worldwide.
Prospective customers can register for notifications about card availability through Amazon's website.
