GXO opens new logistics facility in Switzerland's Sant'Antonino

GXO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: GXO) opened a new logistics facility in Sant'Antonino, Switzerland, according to a company press release. The facility spans 20,000 square meters with 55,000 square meters of total floor space and stands 15 meters high with 20 loading bays.

CEO Patrick Kelleher attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Continental Europe President Paul Mohan, Chief Commercial Officer Karen Bomber, and other company executives. The site is located in the Canton of Ticino and features rail connectivity to Swiss Post's main sorting center in Härkingen.

The facility includes automated systems with a multi-shuttle system supporting 14,000 tote positions for lightweight products and an automated pallet shuttle system with 600 pallet locations for heavy items. The site operates 60 packing stations and uses mobile racking systems reaching 15 meters in height.

The facility holds LEED Platinum and ISO 14001 certifications and features solar panels covering 20,000 square meters with an estimated annual output of 800,000 kWh. The company states the site includes systems for monitoring energy consumption and waste management.

GXO describes itself as the world's largest pure-play contract logistics provider, operating over 1,000 facilities totaling more than 200 million square feet with over 150,000 employees globally.
