Immunic Inc. (NASDAQ: IMUX) appointed Jon Congleton to its board of directors, effective March 27, 2026, according to a company press release.

Congleton brings nearly 40 years of biopharmaceutical experience spanning drug development, commercialization and corporate leadership. He participated in the U.S. launch of Teva Pharmaceuticals' Copaxone, a multiple sclerosis treatment that became the most prescribed MS therapy in the market.

Currently, Congleton serves as chief executive officer and board member of Mineralys Therapeutics Inc., which focuses on aldosterone-driven cardiorenal conditions. He previously held CEO positions at CNS company Impel NeuroPharma Inc. and cystic fibrosis company Nivalis Therapeutics Inc. At Teva Pharmaceuticals, he led the United States and Canadian neuroscience businesses and the global CNS franchise.

Immunic is developing vidofludimus calcium (IMU-838), currently in phase 3 clinical trials for relapsing multiple sclerosis treatment. The company expects top-line data from these trials by the end of 2026.

"Jon's deep CNS expertise and proven track record in late-stage drug development and commercialization will be invaluable as we advance vidofludimus calcium through its pivotal clinical milestones," stated Simona Skerjanec, interim chairperson of Immunic's board.

Congleton said vidofludimus calcium represents a potential opportunity for MS patients, citing its combination of neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory and anti-viral effects along with its safety profile demonstrated in studies to date.

The biotechnology company focuses on developing oral therapies for neurologic diseases and has additional earlier-stage programs including IMU-856 and IMU-381 targeting neurodegenerative, chronic inflammatory and autoimmune-related diseases.
