Westwater Resources' Coosa deposit joins federal permitting program
Westwater Resources Inc. (NYSE American: WWR) announced that its Coosa Graphite Deposit in Alabama has been designated as a covered project under the FAST-41 federal permitting framework and added to the federal permitting dashboard.
The FAST-41 designation provides a coordinated federal permitting process with a publicly available permitting timetable for environmental review and permitting activities. The framework aims to improve visibility and coordination among federal agencies during the permitting process.
"This is an important step forward as we continue advancing Coosa," said Frank Bakker, Chief Executive Officer of Westwater Resources. "We are making steady progress as we advance our mine-to-market platform and work toward building a domestic graphite supply chain."
The Coosa Graphite Deposit is located in Coosa County, Alabama, and spans approximately 41,965 acres. According to the company, it represents the largest natural flake graphite deposit in the contiguous United States.
Westwater Resources describes itself as a critical minerals and energy technology company developing a vertically integrated platform for battery-grade natural graphite production in the United States.
