Spire Global launches ten satellites on SpaceX Transporter-16 mission
Spire Global Inc. (NYSE: SPIR) launched ten satellites aboard SpaceX's Transporter-16 mission, with integration services provided by Germany's Exolaunch.
The mission included a satellite carrying a diamond quantum magnetometer system developed by SBQuantum to support Spire's participation in the NGA-led MagQuest challenge. The system is designed to provide geomagnetic data for the World Magnetic Model. Spire will provide data to NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for assessment.
The launch included Spire's seventh Optical Inter-Satellite Link satellite, part of a project supported by the European Space Agency and UK Space Agency under the Pioneer Partnership Projects. The technology enables direct optical communication between satellites using laser links.
The mission carried satellites for multiple commercial customers. Spire launched Sejong-3 for HANCOM InSpace, following previous launches of Sejong-1 and Sejong-2 satellites. Four satellites were launched for IoT provider Myriota to expand its constellation for IoT connectivity services.
Two additional satellites were launched for a Spire Space Services customer, and one constellation replenishment satellite equipped with ADS-B technology was deployed to support aircraft tracking services.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
