Scorpio Tankers agrees to sell two vessels for $70 million
Scorpio Tankers Inc. (NYSE: STNG) announced agreements to sell two 2015-built MR product tankers for $35 million each, according to a company statement.
The vessels, STI Brooklyn and STI Black Hawk, are both equipped with scrubbers and will generate combined proceeds of $70 million. The transactions are expected to close within the second quarter of 2026.
The Monaco-based company provides marine transportation of petroleum products globally. Scorpio Tankers currently operates 89 product tankers, including 33 LR2 tankers, 42 MR tankers and 14 Handymax tankers, with an average fleet age of 10.1 years.
The company has additional vessel sales pending, including agreements to sell one LR2 product tanker and four MR product tankers, which are also expected to close in the second quarter of 2026.
Scorpio Tankers has contracted for new vessel construction, with four MR newbuildings scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027, four LR2 newbuildings expected in 2027 and 2029, and two VLCC newbuildings planned for the second half of 2028.
