Vertiv invests $50 million to expand Ohio manufacturing facilities

March 30, 2026 4:01 PM

Vertiv Holdings Co (NYSE: VRT) announced a $50 million investment to expand manufacturing operations in Ironton, Ohio, and its headquarters campus in Westerville, Ohio. The expansion is expected to create hundreds of jobs through 2029.

The Ironton facility expansion, planned to become operational in the second quarter of 2027, will increase production capacity for liquid cooling and chilled water systems by approximately 45%. These systems are used for thermal management in AI data centers and high-density computing applications.

"Ohio operations remain integral to Vertiv's strategy," said Giordano Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. "This investment expands our manufacturing capacity and strengthens the engineering, sales, service, and logistics capabilities that support customers building the next generation of digital infrastructure."

The company operates 14 facilities across Ohio, including manufacturing plants, research and development centers, testing laboratories, and its global headquarters. Vertiv was originally founded in Ohio more than 60 years ago as Liebert Corporation.

The expansion addresses growing demand for advanced thermal management solutions as AI adoption increases and computing densities rise. These technologies support GPU clusters, large-scale model training, and high-performance workloads that require sophisticated cooling systems.

Vertiv provides power, cooling, and IT infrastructure solutions for data centers, communication networks, and commercial facilities. The company operates in more than 130 countries and is headquartered in Westerville, Ohio.
