Investing.com -- The White House said Monday that negotiations with Iran are continuing and making progress, despite differences between Tehran's public statements and private communications with U.S. officials.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said talks are going well, noting a gap between Iran's public rhetoric and what it tells American officials behind closed doors.

"Despite all of the public posturing you hear from the regime and false reporting, talks are continuing and going well. What is said publicly is, of course, much different than what's being communicated to us privately," Leavitt said.

The White House added that any private statements from Iran would be tested for verification.
