Commerce Bancshares names new chief accounting officer
Commerce Bancshares Inc. (NASDAQ: CBSH) announced that Paul A. Steiner will resign from his position as Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer to pursue other opportunities, according to a company statement.
Steiner informed the company of his decision on March 24, 2026. The company stated his resignation is not the result of any disagreement with Commerce Bancshares on matters relating to finances, accounting, operations, policies or practices.
Steiner will remain with the company through July 7, 2026 to facilitate an orderly transition. Steven A. Brandjord will succeed Steiner as Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer, effective May 2026 following his appointment by the Board of Directors.
In connection with his promotion, Brandjord will receive approximately 2,100 restricted stock units that vest over four years under the company's standard equity award agreement terms.
Brandjord joined Commerce Bancshares in 2014 and currently serves as Assistant Controller and Director of Tax. He previously held the position of Tax Manager III at the company. Before joining Commerce Bancshares, Brandjord worked as a Senior Manager in the tax division at BKD, LLP.
