Sun Life names Tony Mollica as dental business president
Sun Life U.S. (NYSE: SLF) appointed Tony Mollica as president of its dental business, which includes DentaQuest, effective March 30. The former Humana executive will oversee the company's dental operations serving approximately 32 million people nationwide.
Mollica replaces David Healy, who was named president of Sun Life U.S. The new president will direct strategic planning for the dental division's Medicaid, commercial, and Medicare Advantage segments, as well as affiliated Advantage Dental+ practices.
At Humana, Mollica most recently served as chief executive officer of Independent Care Health Plan, managing market strategy and daily operations. He previously held clinical operations and product leadership positions at UnitedHealth Group.
"Tony's extensive background in health plan leadership across every sector—Commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid—brings exactly the strategic expertise and operational excellence we need," Healy said in a statement.
Mollica will work with the dental leadership team to develop go-to-market strategies for all businesses and products, including vision insurance. He will also oversee membership retention strategies and managed care program development.
The executive holds a Master of Healthcare Innovation from Arizona State University, a Master of Science in Communication from Illinois State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Sun Life U.S. Dental operates as the largest Medicaid and CHIP dental benefits administrator in the U.S. by membership. The division also supports direct patient care through more than 70 dental practices in underserved communities.
