KALA BIO launches commercial AI research platform for biotech
KALA BIO Inc. (NASDAQ: KALA) announced the commercial deployment of its Bionic Intelligence Research Agent, an AI platform designed for biotechnology and pharmaceutical research organizations.
The platform operates within client-controlled, VPN-secured environments and uses Researgent 2.0, a 70-billion-parameter language model trained on biotech and healthcare datasets. The system provides autonomous research capabilities, database connectivity, and data visualization tools for enterprise clients.
The launch follows the company's March 11 commitment to deploy its first AI agent within 14 days. "The Bionic Intelligence Research Agent is not a demo; it is a working, enterprise-grade product inside private infrastructure right now," said CEO Avi Minkowitz.
The platform operates through an exclusive worldwide license with Younet for the Researgency.ai platform. Key features include multi-step query processing, integration with scientific literature and clinical trial databases, and compliance with pharmaceutical research and development standards.
KALA BIO is developing four additional capabilities: automated publication reviews, real-time monitoring alerts, intellectual property filings tracking, and dormant patent identification systems.
The company positions the platform as an alternative to public cloud AI solutions by maintaining data sovereignty within client organizations. The platform uses a software-as-a-service model designed for recurring revenue generation.
KALA BIO operates as a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company with a dual strategy combining a biologics pipeline and AI platform services. The company holds FDA Orphan Drug and Fast Track designations for certain product candidates and maintains a mesenchymal stem cell secretome platform.
The company acknowledged that no assurance can be given regarding market capture, substantial recurring revenue generation, or profitability from its AI platform efforts.
