M&T Bank appoints Denise Viola Monahan as regional president
M&T Bank (NYSE: MTB) appointed Denise Viola Monahan as regional president for Philadelphia and southern New Jersey, the bank announced March 30.
Monahan brings over 40 years of financial services experience to the role. She previously served as wealth market leader for Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey since 2023.
In her expanded position, Monahan will oversee M&T's regional leaders across retail banking, business banking, commercial banking, wealth management, government banking, healthcare and charitable teams. She will continue serving on several boards, including the executive committee of the Southern New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and Mission Kids.
"I am proud to lead this outstanding team as M&T continues to deepen its impact and advance our mission as a community leader and innovator in Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey," Monahan said in the press release.
M&T Bank's local presence spans Philadelphia and surrounding areas through seven counties in southern New Jersey. The bank employs over 500 people across corporate offices and branches in the Philadelphia and southern New Jersey region.
According to the announcement, M&T provided more than $2.6 million in charitable grants, sponsorships and tax credits to 177 community impact organizations in Philadelphia last year.
Before joining M&T Bank, Monahan spent 32 years at PNC Bank in various roles including sales, credit, project management and training. She holds a bachelor's degree in education from Saint Joseph's University.
