SEALSQ joins ECHONET Consortium to provide PKI services for IoT security

March 30, 2026 8:00 AM

SEALSQ Corp. (NASDAQ: LAES) announced it has joined the ECHONET Consortium as a public key infrastructure services provider. The consortium is an international standardization body for smart home and energy management systems based in Japan.

The ECHONET Consortium plans to enhance its ECHONET Lite security framework with PKI technology. SEALSQ will provide its INeS (Identity Network Security) PKI platform services to consortium members to support device identity, authentication, and reliability functions.

"Security will become a foundational requirement for the long-term success of smart energy and home automation systems," said a spokesperson from the ECHONET Consortium. "By reinforcing our specifications with PKI-based device identity, we are enabling ECHONET members to deploy solutions that are secure by design, scalable, and resilient against evolving cyber threats."

SEALSQ's INeS platform provides secure device onboarding, certificate lifecycle management, authentication, and cryptographic trust for IoT and embedded environments. The platform supports constrained devices, high-volume manufacturing, and long operational lifecycles required for ECHONET-based deployments.

The ECHONET Consortium has approximately 250 members from home appliances, electricity, electronics, energy, residential, and IT industries. The organization promotes the ECHONET Lite communication protocol for home appliances and housing facilities in smart home applications.

SEALSQ currently serves as an approved Product Attestation Authority for the Connectivity Standards Alliance's Matter smart home products and is a member of the Wi-SUN Alliance, providing PKI services for smart grid and utility applications.

"ECHONET plays a pivotal role in defining the future of smart home and energy interoperability," said Gweltas Radenac, IoT Security Director at SEALSQ. "We are proud to support ECHONET members with the INeS PKI platform, delivering secure and trusted device identities."
