Magnachip launches 8th-generation MOSFETs for servers and PCs
Magnachip Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE: MX) announced the launch of its 8th-generation 40V and 60V Medium-Voltage MOSFETs designed for server and high-performance PC power supply units.
The new products incorporate Advanced Shielded-Gate Trench technology and are designed for use in the Synchronous Rectification stage of server and PC power systems. The 40V products deliver up to 40% improvement in current density and approximately 25% faster switching speed compared to the previous generation. The 60V products achieve up to 50% improvement in current density and 60% faster switching speed.
The devices support operating temperatures up to 175°C and use a compact PDFN56 package. They meet JEDEC standards and are designed for server and high-performance PC power supply units, as well as solar inverters and industrial power systems.
Following the May 2025 launch of the 0.7mΩ 40V product, Magnachip is introducing three additional products: 0.8mΩ 40V, 1.0mΩ 40V, and 1.05mΩ 60V devices. According to market research firm Omdia, the global server and data center power supply market is projected to grow from approximately $2.3 billion in 2025 to $3.0 billion in 2029, representing a 7.4% compound annual growth rate.
"These new products are expected to serve as a solution that can enhance both efficiency and reliability in server and high-performance PC power systems," said Hyuk Woo, Chief Technology Officer of Magnachip.
The company will present its MV MOSFET solutions at PCIM Europe 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany. Information in this article is based on a company press release.
