Entergy Louisiana signs deal with Meta for $2B in customer savings

March 27, 2026 9:02 AM

Entergy Louisiana announced an agreement with Meta to support the company's hyperscale data center in Northeast Louisiana, projecting approximately $2 billion in customer savings over 20 years. The agreement adds to a previously announced $650 million in customer benefits.

Under the partnership, Meta will cover costs for new infrastructure that will serve all customers. The combined agreements are expected to deliver approximately $2.65 billion in total customer benefits, according to the company's statement.

"This agreement reflects what's possible when strong partners align around long-term growth and value," said Phillip May, president and CEO of Entergy Louisiana.

Meta will contribute $120 million, including matching funds, for Entergy's The Power to Care program and $140 million for energy efficiency initiatives for vulnerable customers. The company will also support incremental carbon-free nuclear energy solutions and renewable energy options, including up to 2,500 megawatts of additional solar.

Rachel Peterson, Vice President of Data Centers at Meta, said the Richland Parish data center has the potential to scale up to 5 gigawatts and represents next-generation AI infrastructure.

To support the project, Entergy Louisiana plans infrastructure investments paid for by Meta, including seven new natural gas-fueled combined-cycle power plants totaling more than 5,200 megawatts, approximately 240 miles of new 500 kV transmission lines, and battery energy storage across three locations.

The project is expected to create thousands of construction jobs from 2026 to 2031 and permanent roles in engineering, maintenance and support services. It will be the first submitted under the Louisiana Public Service Commission's Lightning Amendment framework.

Entergy Louisiana (NYSE: ETR) provides electricity to more than 1.1 million customers in 58 parishes and is a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation.
