Hudson Technologies signs refrigerant licensing deal with Solstice

March 27, 2026 8:30 AM

Hudson Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: HDSN) entered into a licensing agreement with Solstice Advanced Materials (NASDAQ: SOLS) for the reclamation and resale of R-448A and R-449A refrigerants in the United States and Canada.

The agreement covers two patented HFO refrigerant blends used as alternatives to higher global warming potential HFC refrigerants in supermarket applications, according to a company statement. These refrigerants comply with the AIM Act requirements for transitioning to lower global warming potential alternatives.

"This agreement provides Hudson a meaningful opportunity to grow our presence in the commercial refrigeration space by enabling our reclamation and resale of patented next generation lower GWP refrigerants," said Ken Gaglione, president and chief executive officer of Hudson Technologies.

Hudson Technologies operates as a refrigerant reclaimer and provider of refrigerant products and services to the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry. The company's services include refrigerant reclamation, system decontamination, and monitoring services for commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.

Solstice Advanced Materials became an independent publicly traded company in October 2025 following its spinoff from Honeywell International Inc. The company produces specialty materials including refrigerants for various industrial applications and holds over 5,700 issued patents and pending applications.

The licensing agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two companies and aligns with regulatory requirements as legacy refrigerants like R-404A and R-507 face constraints under federal HFC phase-down rules and state regulations favoring reclaimed or lower global warming potential materials.
