Granite Construction (NYSE: GVA) announced it secured a $495 million contract from Customs and Border Protection for tactical infrastructure improvements along the Texas-Mexico border. The LRT-4 Webb-Zapata project will be included in the company's first quarter 2026 contracted amount pending, according to a press release.

The project encompasses 27 miles of infrastructure work near Laredo, Texas. Construction will include mass excavation, grading, roads, fencing and cattle guards. Granite will build seven bridges, eight major culvert crossings, and 68 paved concrete low water crossings. The company will also install approximately 27 miles of electrical systems, lighting, cameras and fiber optics.

"Granite is focused on growing our portfolio of federal work, and the Webb‑Zapata project is a major piece of that growth," said Curt Haldeman, Granite Federal Division Vice President.

Work is scheduled to begin in April 2026 and conclude in July 2027. The Watsonville, California-based construction company described the project as part of its strategy to expand federal contracting work.

Granite has operated as a construction and construction materials company since 1922. The company provides civil construction services across the United States.
