WEBTOON to launch unified global CANVAS platform in spring 2026
WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ: WBTN) announced plans to launch a unified international CANVAS platform in spring 2026, consolidating its regional user-generated content services into a single global platform.
The new platform will support distribution across seven languages: English, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Thai, Traditional Chinese, and German. WEBTOON will expand its Ad Revenue Share program to all supported CANVAS languages as part of the update.
The unified platform will include a Creator Dashboard with performance insights, analytics for understanding readership, and tools for managing community engagement. CANVAS will also introduce a Translation Program that allows creators to translate and distribute their content across the supported languages using AI technology.
The Translation Program will begin in beta during spring 2026 for eligible English-language CANVAS creators before expanding to additional markets. Creators will maintain control over their content distribution and localization through an opt-in system.
For readers, CANVAS will feature a redesigned homepage with improved discovery features and personalized recommendations based on reading history and language preferences.
"Great stories can come from anywhere, and with the new CANVAS, we're making it easier than ever for Creators to share stories with fans everywhere," said Yongsoo Kim, President of WEBTOON Entertainment.
The announcement follows other creator-focused initiatives WEBTOON plans to roll out in 2026, including improved monetization with lower minimum payout thresholds, expanded access to Reward Ads for CANVAS creators, and a new Creator Residency Program.
WEBTOON Entertainment operates storytelling platforms with approximately 160 million monthly active users. The company's brands include WEBTOON, Wattpad, and other content platforms.
