Laser Photonics secures order for surface preparation system
Laser Photonics Corporation (NASDAQ: LASE) announced it received an order from a process controls manufacturer for its CleanTech laser cleaning system. The customer will use the system for powder coat surface preparation on hydraulic actuators designed for harsh operating environments.
The CleanTech system will remove powder coat from linear actuators, correct paint errors, and prepare metal surfaces before powder coating. The customer expects the laser cleaning process to improve surface adhesion and extend product service life in demanding conditions including oil and gas, utilities, and wastewater treatment facilities.
The laser cleaning technology does not use abrasive media, which the company states reduces secondary contamination risk for sensitive components and minimizes hazardous waste compared to sandblasting methods.
"This order represents an important step in expanding our CleanTech technology into industrial process controls applications," said Wayne Tupuola, Chief Executive Officer of Laser Photonics. "This system gives manufacturers a cleaner, controlled way to correct coating defects and prepare surfaces without the impact of abrasive media on sensitive components."
Orlando-based Laser Photonics develops laser systems for industrial and defense applications, serving markets including aerospace, energy, maritime, automotive, and manufacturing sectors.
