Firefly Neuroscience partners with Department of War for PTSD, TBI treatment
Firefly Neuroscience Inc. (NASDAQ: AIFF) announced a partnership with the Department of War to support assessment and treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury in active-duty U.S. service members and veterans.
The partnership originated from work by founders of Evoke Neuroscience Inc., which Firefly acquired in May 2025, with the U.S. Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune Family Medicine Residency program. Specific details of the partnership and related programs remain confidential under applicable agreements.
Firefly's FDA 510(k)-cleared, AI-powered EEG/ERP platform is being utilized across Department of War programs to provide military healthcare providers with neurological data for diagnosis, treatment planning, and outcomes tracking. The platform is designed for deployment across clinical and operational environments.
The total economic burden of PTSD in the United States has been estimated at $232.2 billion, with approximately $42.7 billion attributed to the military population, according to data cited in the company's announcement. The RAND Corporation reported that more than 444,300 U.S. service members were diagnosed with at least one TBI between 2000 and 2021.
"Every U.S. service member who comes home carrying the invisible wounds of PTSD and/or TBI deserves to be truly seen — not just screened," said Dave DeCaprio, President and Chief Operating Officer of Firefly.
Chief Executive Officer Greg Lipschitz said the partnership positions the company to benefit from U.S. government investment in military brain health with a validated, FDA-cleared platform.
Firefly maintains a database of over 191,000 EEG/ERP brain scans and develops AI-driven brain analytics technology for conditions including depression, dementia, anxiety disorders, concussions, and ADHD. The partnership represents an expansion of the company's commercial footprint into the U.S. government and defense health sectors.
