DocuSign launches AI contract review assistant powered by Iris engine

March 25, 2026 11:01 AM

DocuSign Inc. (NASDAQ: DOCU) introduced an AI-powered contract review assistant designed to help legal teams analyze agreements more efficiently. The tool is powered by Iris, the company's agreement AI engine, and integrated into the DocuSign Intelligent Agreement Management platform.

The contract review assistant allows users to analyze agreements and highlight key terms, risks, and deviations based on company standards. Legal teams can ask questions about contract details and receive answers linked to specific terms. The system can suggest edits, generate redlines, and draft new contract language for review.

The tool automatically compares agreements against company playbooks to identify terms that don't match policy. For organizations without existing playbooks, teams can upload template documents to automatically generate structured review guides.

"Contract review has traditionally been one of the biggest bottlenecks in how agreements move through a business," said Dmitri Krakovsky, Chief Product Officer at DocuSign. "With the new contract review assistant, legal teams can quickly understand contracts, identify risks, and generate edits in seconds."

The assistant integrates with DocuSign's broader agreement workflow, connecting legal teams with sales, procurement, and HR departments. The system supports contract creation, review, signature, and ongoing management processes.

According to a 2025 Deloitte report cited in the announcement, over 70% of legal leaders believe agreement management tools help improve caseloads and increase sales team satisfaction scores. DocuSign reported its internal legal team reduced time spent on contract review, saving up to 15 minutes per NDA and cutting MSA negotiation time by 30 minutes to an hour.

The features are available to DocuSign CLM and select IAM customers globally, with support in English, French, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
