Zoom launches AI Companion 3.0 to help workers reclaim lunch breaks

March 25, 2026 9:09 AM

Zoom Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: ZM) launched Zoom AI Companion 3.0 and announced its "Take Back Lunch" campaign aimed at helping workers reclaim time during their workday. The initiative is supported by new research conducted by Morning Consult showing workplace lunch habits among U.S. knowledge workers.

The study of 1,047 U.S. knowledge workers found that 60% squeeze in short lunches between meetings or tasks, while 35% skip lunch at least once per week. Three-quarters of workers regularly eat at their desks while working. Heavy workloads account for 63% of lost lunch time, with meetings scheduled during lunch contributing 54%.

Zoom AI Companion 3.0 functions as an AI assistant that automates tasks and connects workflows across Zoom Workplace. The system generates automated meeting summaries and action items, unifies context from meetings and messages, manages proactive task follow-up, and provides real-time insights across Zoom's platform.

"Zoom's AI Companion 3.0 automates what happens before, during, and after meetings so teams can reclaim time in their day," said Kimberly Storin, Chief Marketing Officer at Zoom.

The research indicates that 76% of workers using AI tools report saving at least 30 minutes daily, with 43% saving an hour or more. Nearly three-quarters said they would use AI-saved time for dedicated lunch breaks, and 66% would use AI-powered meeting tools to skip meetings that conflict with lunch.

As part of the campaign, Zoom will operate the "Hard Stop Burger Shop," a pop-up restaurant in Manhattan from March 25-27. The company aims to help workers reclaim 1 million lunches through commitments to protect break time.

The survey was conducted online between February 17 and March 3, 2026, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points for national data.
