Pink Elephant deploys Quantum cold storage for new archive service
Pink Elephant, a Netherlands-based IT services provider, has deployed a new archive service called DMaaS Clouddrive Cold using Quantum Corporation's (NASDAQ: QMCO) ActiveScale Cold Storage system, according to a company statement.
The deployment spans three data centers in the Netherlands and is designed to provide storage for organizations with large data volumes and regulatory retention requirements. The ActiveScale Cold Storage system combines object storage with an integrated tape cold tier.
"Customers asked us for cheap and resilient storage for long-term data. It had to be highly available, spread across multiple data centers. That's why we chose Quantum," said Rene Sesink, Product Manager at Pink Elephant.
The system writes data across multiple locations and is designed to provide what the companies describe as 15 nines of durability and continuous availability. The tape-based cold tier is intended to reduce power consumption and operational expenses compared to disk-only storage systems.
"The beauty of ActiveScale Cold Storage is that you simply store the data, and it's written across multiple locations automatically. You can read it from any of them. That's exactly what we needed," said Jeroen Boekkamp, Technology Lead, Datacenter Cloud Services at Pink Elephant.
Pink Elephant plans to target customers in healthcare, government, education, and enterprise markets that require multi-year data retention. The system includes immutability features and air-gapped archives designed for ransomware protection and compliance requirements.
"We're thrilled to partner with Pink Elephant as they transform how European organizations manage their long-term data," said Hugues Meyrath, Chief Executive Officer for Quantum.
Pink Elephant operates as part of its Data Management as a Service portfolio, which includes backup and disaster recovery services.
