flyExclusive files patent for flight scheduling system, launches Contrails
flyExclusive (NYSE American: FLYX) filed a utility patent application for aircraft schedule optimization technology and announced its Contrails Flight Management System will be available to Part 135 operators at no cost beginning in the second quarter of 2026.
The patent application, titled "Aircraft Schedule Optimization," describes a graph-based architecture that precomputes valid flight sequences across an entire fleet. The system aims to enable near-instant schedule recovery during irregular operations by having solutions ready in advance rather than recalculating schedules when disruptions occur.
Contrails was developed using flyExclusive's operational experience combined with intellectual property acquired from Volato Group, including its Mission Control flight management system. The platform integrates scheduling, crew compliance, dispatch, disruption recovery, fleet optimization, and wholesale charter coordination.
"Today we are unable to source lift for nearly 300 trip requests per day. We believe Contrails will allow us to address that demand far more efficiently—both within our own operation and through coordination with other operators—and that represents a material revenue opportunity for flyExclusive and for all participating operators," said Jim Segrave, founder, chairman and CEO of flyExclusive.
The company announced both developments at the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference 2026 in Cleveland. flyExclusive plans to begin onboarding operators for Contrails in the second quarter of 2026.
flyExclusive operates one of the largest private jet fleets in the United States and provides charter, jet club membership, and fractional ownership services. The company maintains in-house maintenance, avionics, and refurbishment capabilities at its facilities in Kinston, North Carolina.
