Bio-Techne expands COMET spatial biology platform with new tools
Bio-Techne Corporation (NASDAQ: TECH) announced the expansion of its COMET spatial biology solution portfolio with new SPYRE Focus Panels and SPYRE Amplification Kits, according to a company press release.
The Minneapolis-based life science tools provider added two new SPYRE Focus Panels targeting Stroma and Vessel analysis to its modular panel options. These panels use validated antibodies with ready-to-use protocols designed to reduce optimization time while maintaining flexibility for researchers to incorporate their own antibody libraries.
The SPYRE Amplification Kits utilize sequential and enhanced layered amplification technology to improve detection of low-abundance and challenging targets. Bio-Techne also introduced new features in its HORIZON Image Analysis Software tailored for COMET hyperplex images using the new SPYRE tools.
"Researchers need tools that make it easier to extract meaningful answers from complex tissue samples," said Steve Crouse, President of Bio-Techne's Diagnostics and Spatial Biology Segment. "By incorporating these capabilities into the COMET Suite, we are giving researchers a more flexible, faster, and higher sensitivity workflow that enables researchers to achieve deeper insights with greater confidence."
Prof. Joanne Edwards from the University of Glasgow said the pre-optimized SPYRE panel enabled a one-day experimental protocol and increased the capacity of conventional multiplex immunofluorescence. "The COMET workflow is straightforward and flexible, allowing us to easily integrate our own antibodies of interest," Edwards stated.
Bio-Techne generated over $1.2 billion in net sales in fiscal 2025 and employs approximately 3,100 people worldwide. The company provides tools and reagents for research and clinical diagnostic communities.
