BlackLine founder Therese Tucker to retire from executive role in June
BlackLine Inc. (NASDAQ: BL) announced that founder and largest individual shareholder Therese Tucker will retire from full-time executive employment effective June 2, 2026. Tucker, who owns approximately 8% of BlackLine's outstanding shares, will remain on the company's board of directors.
Tucker founded BlackLine 25 years ago and returned to a management role to work alongside CEO Owen Ryan during what the company described as an important period of transformation. During her recent tenure, BlackLine launched its Studio360 platform and developed artificial intelligence capabilities for its financial software offerings.
"Founding BlackLine and watching it grow into the global platform that it is today has been the privilege of my professional life," Tucker stated in the announcement. She expressed confidence in the company's future under Ryan's leadership and said she remains committed to BlackLine as a board member and shareholder.
Ryan, who serves as CEO, praised Tucker's contributions to the accounting software industry. "Therese isn't just the founder of BlackLine; she is the architect of the modern accounting category," Ryan said.
BlackLine provides financial software solutions through its Studio360 platform, which includes automation and AI-powered tools for finance and accounting operations. The Los Angeles-based company serves more than 4,300 customers across multiple industries.
The retirement announcement comes as BlackLine continues to focus on serving chief financial officers and their teams with what it describes as a platform approach rather than individual software products.
