HP introduces workplace intelligence platform HP IQ for connected devices
HP Inc. (NYSE: HPQ) announced HP IQ, a workplace intelligence platform designed to coordinate experiences across HP devices through on-device AI capabilities and proximity-based connectivity. The company unveiled the technology at HP Imagine 2026.
HP IQ integrates local AI processing with enterprise management tools to reduce digital friction for employees and enable collaboration across HP devices. The platform uses a 20-billion parameter model that operates primarily on-device, routing select tasks to cloud services only when permitted by enterprise policies.
"HP's vision for the future of work is a connected, intelligent ecosystem that helps work flow across devices, spaces, and the moments in between," said Tuan Tran, President of HP's Technology & Innovation Organization.
The platform debuts on HP EliteBook X G2 PCs with AI features including Ask IQ for text and voice responses, file analysis capabilities, note organization, and meeting recording functions. HP IQ introduces HP NearSense technology for spatial intelligence, enabling devices to discover and connect with nearby HP equipment for file sharing and meeting access.
The system operates through a "Visor" interface that adapts to user context without requiring application switching. HP IQ integrates with HP's Workforce Experience Platform and Microsoft Intune for enterprise deployment and management.
Early access begins on select HP AI PCs in spring 2026, with limited summer release planned for additional notebooks, desktops, and Poly Studio Video Bars. New HP IQ-enabled devices are expected to ship in fall 2026, with broader availability across HP's product portfolio starting in the second half of 2026.
The announcement follows HP's 2025 Work Relationship Index findings that frequent AI use correlates with improved employee work relationships. HP IQ aims to transform daily-use devices into context-aware tools for productivity enhancement.
