NetApp partners with Elastio to enhance ransomware protection service

March 24, 2026 8:01 AM

NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) announced a partnership with Elastio to integrate ransomware detection capabilities into its existing security service. The collaboration adds Elastio's Provable Recovery Control technology to NetApp's Ransomware Resilience Service.

The enhanced service will include Deep File Inspection of NetApp ONTAP snapshots to detect ransomware that may have bypassed perimeter security controls. Elastio's technology scans backup data continuously to identify clean recovery points without requiring additional software agents.

NetApp's existing Ransomware Resilience Service detects and contains ransomware in real time, creates immutable snapshots, and guides recovery processes. The addition of Elastio's inspection capabilities aims to identify threats that may have infiltrated backup data before detection.

"Storage needs to be part of the conversation when defining a holistic cyber security strategy," said Gagan Gulati, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Data Services at NetApp. "By collaborating with Elastio, we're giving enterprises another tool to protect their most critical asset: data."

Elastio CEO Naj Husain stated that most organizations discover compromised recovery data during active security incidents. The joint solution addresses this by continuously verifying backup integrity before incidents occur.

The companies said the enhanced service will be available in the near future. Enterprise customers interested in early access can contact NetApp or Elastio representatives for evaluation.

The partnership requires no separate procurement or architecture changes for existing NetApp customers, according to the companies' announcement.
