Absci forms expert advisory board for endometriosis drug development

March 24, 2026 8:00 AM

Absci Corporation (NASDAQ: ABSI) announced the formation of an advisory board for its ABS-201 endometriosis program, comprising experts from Yale University School of Medicine, Duke University School of Medicine, UCSF, and the Mayo Clinic.

The advisory board will guide clinical research for ABS-201, an anti-prolactin receptor antibody designed to treat endometriosis through a non-hormonal pathway. The drug targets prolactin receptor signaling, which is upregulated in endometrial tissue and drives inflammation independently of hormonal pathways addressed by current therapies.

Endometriosis affects an estimated 190 million people worldwide. Current treatments rely on hormonal therapies, GnRH agonists, and pain medications that do not address underlying disease mechanisms and often suppress fertility.

The advisory board includes Dr. Hugh Taylor, Professor at Yale University and Chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences; Dr. Linda Giudice, Distinguished Professor and Chair Emerita at UCSF; Dr. Gaurang Daftary, Chief Scientific Officer at Inception; Dr. Steven Young, Professor at Duke University; Dr. Zaraq Khan, Assistant Professor at Mayo Clinic; and Dr. Joan-Carles Arce, Chief Scientific and Medical Officer at Repronovo.

ABS-201 is formulated for subcutaneous self-administration with an extended half-life demonstrated in non-human primates. The company plans to initiate a Phase 2 study in the fourth quarter of 2026, with interim data expected in the second half of 2027.

"Today, every approved endometriosis therapy works through hormonal suppression—forcing patients to choose between managing their disease and preserving fertility," said Sean McClain, Founder and CEO of Absci.

The advisory board will support study design, clinical strategy, and patient-informed endpoints as the company advances the drug candidate. The information is based on a company press release.
