BlackBerry enhances AtHoc platform for crisis response coordination
BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB) announced enhancements to its AtHoc platform that provide government, defense, and critical infrastructure organizations with improved tools for coordinating emergency response operations.
The updates center on the AtHoc Command Center, which creates a unified workspace for distributed teams to establish operational awareness, track personnel, and coordinate activities across multiple sites and agencies during critical incidents.
"In critical operations, the speed of your response depends on how fast you can understand the situation and get the right people and systems moving in the same direction," said Ramon Pinero, General Manager of BlackBerry AtHoc.
The enhanced platform addresses coordination challenges that arise during incidents such as severe weather, facility lockdowns, active threats, or IT outages. Response teams often lose time reconciling information across email, conference calls, and separate dashboards.
The Command Center consolidates alerts, status updates, field inputs, and operational metrics into dashboards that provide teams with shared information. The system supports hierarchical visibility without requiring shared administrative control, allowing independent organizations to coordinate while maintaining their own governance structures.
Nathan Jenniges, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BlackBerry Secure Communications, noted that the platform accommodates organizations operating as distributed enterprises with multiple operational units that need to coordinate under pressure.
BlackBerry AtHoc maintains FedRAMP High authorization, the highest security baseline for federal cloud services, along with ISO 27001 and GDPR compliance. The platform serves federal governments across G7 nations, defense organizations, healthcare systems, and critical infrastructure operators.
The enhanced Command Center capabilities are available now, with details provided to existing customers through BlackBerry support channels.
