Jabil Inc. (NYSE: JBL) announced a three-year donation of $1.1 million to St. Petersburg College to support advanced manufacturing training programs, according to a company press release.

The funding will expand student access to technology, lab equipment, and raw materials used in manufacturing environments. The donation will also provide scholarships for students seeking soldering and mechatronics certifications and enhance workforce readiness programs.

Jabil engineering and manufacturing staff will collaborate with college faculty to develop curriculum for roles including solderers and robotics and semiconductor technicians. The programs aim to prepare students for employment with manufacturers in the Tampa Bay area.

"By investing in St. Petersburg College's soldering and mechatronics programs, we're building a pipeline of in-demand talent equipped with training and technical knowhow that can jump into key roles at manufacturers like Jabil from day one," said John Kraus, Vice President of Operations, North America at Jabil.

Jabil operates three local manufacturing sites and a corporate headquarters in the Tampa Bay region, employing over 3,000 people locally. The company was founded in 1966 and provides engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions globally.

St. Petersburg College, founded in 1927, was Florida's first two-year institution and now offers more than 300 programs including associate and bachelor's degrees, certificates, and workforce certifications.
