Origin Materials names HP Embalagens as distributor for PET bottlecaps
Origin Materials Inc. (NASDAQ: ORGN) announced a distribution agreement with HP Embalagens for sustainable PET bottlecaps in South America, according to a company statement.
HP Embalagens, a Brazilian packaging company, will purchase and distribute Origin's PET caps to customers including Nestlé, Ferrero Rocher, Natura, and Johnson & Johnson. The partnership focuses on Brazil and the broader South American market.
The distribution arrangement covers Origin's PET cap product line, starting with the 1881 beverage closure. Origin states its PET caps can be manufactured with 100% post-consumer recycled material for food-grade applications, unlike traditional injection molded or compression molded caps.
HP Embalagens specializes in thermoformed packaging products and plans to use the PET caps to expand its product catalog. The company serves major brands across beverage, food, and consumer goods sectors in South America.
"At HP Embalagens, our growth strategy centers on innovation, sustainability, and measurable impact," said Felipe Souza, HP Embalagens Purchasing and New Business Director. "The packaging industry has long sought a PET cap, and now Origin is making it a reality."
Origin CEO John Bissell stated the partnership extends the company's market reach in South America. Origin describes its PET caps as offering lighter packaging weight and improved product barrier properties that can extend shelf life.
The companies did not disclose financial terms or volume expectations for the distribution agreement. Origin Materials develops sustainable material technologies and estimates the caps and closures market at approximately $65 billion.
