Klarna Card reaches 5 million active customers globally
Klarna announced that its Klarna Card has reached 5 million active customers worldwide, according to a company statement. The digital payments provider said the milestone reflects growing consumer adoption of alternative payment methods.
The card allows users to spend from their own funds while offering the option to spread costs for specific purchases. Klarna positions this as an alternative to traditional credit cards that carry long-term debt obligations.
The card includes a membership program that provides benefits such as airport lounge access, travel insurance, and lifestyle subscriptions without requiring users to maintain minimum spending levels or carry revolving balances.
"The pace of adoption shows a clear shift in how consumers want to manage everyday spending," said David Sandström, Chief Marketing Officer at Klarna. "They're voting with their wallets and looking for the control and flexibility in a single card."
The Klarna Card is currently available in 16 countries across Europe and North America, including markets from Paris to Los Angeles. The company describes the card as an entry point into its broader suite of payment and banking services.
Klarna operates as a global digital bank and payments provider with over 118 million active users worldwide. The company processes 3.4 million transactions daily and works with retailers including Uber, H&M, Saks, and Nike. Klarna trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker NYSE: KLAR.
