CJ 4DPLEX and AMC launch premium cinema formats at four US locations
CJ 4DPLEX and AMC Theatres (NYSE: AMC) opened four premium format auditoriums across the United States as part of their strategic partnership. The locations include two SCREENX theaters and two 4DX theaters in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston, and Kansas City.
The SCREENX locations are at AMC Burbank 16 in the Los Angeles market and AMC Town Square 18 in Las Vegas. The 4DX theaters opened at AMC Gulf Pointe 30 in Houston and AMC Barrywoods 24 in Kansas City.
SCREENX provides a 270-degree panoramic viewing experience that extends select film scenes beyond the main screen onto auditorium side walls. The latest installations feature upgraded 3-chip cinema-quality projection systems for improved brightness, color accuracy, and synchronization.
4DX synchronizes motion seats with environmental effects including wind, vibration, lightning, scent, and water that correspond with on-screen action.
"These initial openings of SCREENX and 4DX represent a continuation of AMC's absolute commitment to being our industry's clear leader in bringing innovative premium experiences to our guests," said Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of AMC Theatres.
Don Savant, CEO and President of Americas at CJ 4DPLEX, stated the launch represents "an important moment for our companies and for the continued evolution of the premium moviegoing experience."
The auditoriums will showcase upcoming releases enhanced for the formats, including "Project Hail Mary," "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie," "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu," and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" from Amazon MGM Studios, Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, and Sony Pictures.
AMC operates approximately 855 theaters and 9,640 screens globally, making it the largest movie exhibition company in the United States and worldwide. CJ 4DPLEX is a subsidiary of South Korea's CJ Group and develops immersive cinema technologies.
