SuperCom wins $17 million electronic monitoring contract in Sweden
SuperCom (NASDAQ: SPCB) has been awarded a $17 million electronic monitoring contract by Sweden's Prison and Probation Service, the company announced in a press release statement. The nine-year contract represents the company's fourth contract win in Sweden since entering the market.
The contract covers nationwide electronic monitoring programs including GPS tracking of offenders, home detention monitoring, and indoor facility monitoring through SuperCom's PureSecurity Electronic Monitoring Suite. The company states this represents six times the expected growth compared to its 2019 project with the same customer.
SuperCom won the contract through a competitive bid process involving five companies, including the previous provider that had served Sweden for approximately 25 years. The evaluation process took over one year and included technology assessments by the contracting authority.
The contract value of approximately $17 million is based on the government's internal budgeting and spread over up to nine years. Actual revenues will depend on usage levels, which may vary from estimated amounts. The contract includes provisions for additional programs such as alcohol monitoring to be added.
"We are proud to be awarded this $17 million contract in Sweden, one of the most advanced and established electronic monitoring markets globally," said Ordan Trabelsi, President and CEO of SuperCom.
The award must go through a standstill waiting period before contract signing is approved and the project launches. SuperCom indicated it will provide additional information in future communications.
Sweden has operated electronic monitoring programs since 1994 and is experiencing expansion in its prison and probation services. SuperCom reports securing over 15 national projects and expansions across Europe in recent years.
