Rubrik launches data protection service for Google Workspace users
Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK) announced the launch of Rubrik Data Protection for Google Workspace, targeting more than 11 million enterprises that use Google Drive and Gmail. The service aims to provide data security and recovery capabilities for organizations using Google's productivity suite.
The new offering includes immutable, air-gapped backups for Gmail and Google Drive, automated policy-driven service level agreements, and recovery capabilities. According to the company, the service can reduce recovery times from days to minutes while maintaining original data and system permissions.
"Organizations can't protect data in isolation. Modern resilience requires us to see the entire estate at once," said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. "Rubrik is built on three pillars of resilience – data, identity, and AI – because an attack or error in one is a direct threat to the entire ecosystem."
The service provides logical air-gap protection with immutable backups and what the company describes as high-fidelity recovery options. The platform offers automated, policy-driven service level agreements designed to meet recovery point objective and recovery time objective requirements.
Rubrik positions the service as addressing the data protection needs of Google Workspace users who store mission-critical information in Google's cloud-based productivity tools. The company states that the service aims to reduce the risk of data loss and business disruptions for organizations dependent on Google Workspace applications.
The announcement comes as Rubrik prepares to exhibit at Google Cloud Next 2026, scheduled for April 22-24 in Las Vegas. Rubrik describes itself as a security and AI operations company that provides data security platforms for cyber threat and operational disruption recovery.
