Waste Connections names Fastenal CEO Daniel Florness to board
Waste Connections Inc. (TSX/NYSE: WCN) announced Daniel L. Florness will join its board of directors effective April 1, 2026.
Florness, 62, currently serves as chief executive officer and board member at Fastenal Company, positions he has held since 2016. He previously served as Fastenal's president and chief executive officer from 2016 to 2024, executive vice president and chief financial officer from 2002 to 2015, and chief financial officer from 1996 to 2002.
Before joining Fastenal, Florness worked at KPMG LLP from 1986 to 1996 in various positions, including senior manager. He holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Florness plans to step down as Fastenal's CEO and resign from its board effective July 16, 2026, according to the company statement.
"Dan is an accomplished executive with a wealth of experience in C-suite level leadership roles for a public company," said Ronald J. Mittelstaedt, Waste Connections' president and chief executive officer.
Waste Connections provides solid waste services to approximately nine million customers across 46 U.S. states and six Canadian provinces. The company offers waste collection, transfer and disposal services, along with resource recovery through recycling and renewable fuels generation.
