SEALSQ partners with WISeSat to launch quantum satellite constellation

March 18, 2026 10:00 AM

SEALSQ Corp (NASDAQ: LAES) announced a partnership with WISeSat.Space Corp. to develop the Quantum Spatial Orbital Cloud, a 100-satellite constellation planned to provide quantum security services from orbit.

The project aims to deliver quantum key distribution, quantum random number generation, and post-quantum identity services to banks, governments, defense agencies, and enterprises through a subscription model. WISeSat, a subsidiary of SEALSQ's parent company WISeKey International Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: WKEY), will own and operate the satellite infrastructure.

Under the agreement, WISeSat will design, manufacture, launch and operate the satellites, while SEALSQ will provide the quantum technology stack and cloud services platform. The companies plan incremental satellite deployments from 2024 through full operational capability in 2033.

At full capacity, SEALSQ expects to offer customers a 99.9% uptime service-level agreement. The project requires final approval from SEALSQ's board of directors.

"The quantum threat to today's encrypted infrastructure is mathematically certain and approaching rapidly," said Carlos Moreira, CEO of SEALSQ. "The QSOC is not a science project — it is the commercial orbital layer that will protect the financial system, critical infrastructure, and national security communications from the quantum computing era."

The commercial framework separates infrastructure ownership from service delivery. WISeSat will provide dedicated orbital capacity under a multi-year arrangement, while SEALSQ will contract directly with end customers for quantum cloud services.

The announcement references existing quantum satellite demonstrations, including China's Micius satellite and Singapore's SpooQy-1 CubeSat, as scientific foundations for the commercial service.
