Ondas and Heidelberg form joint venture for European drone defense
Ondas Inc. (NASDAQ: ONDS) and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (FWB: HDD) announced the formation of ONBERG Autonomous Systems, a joint venture between Ondas and HD Advanced Technologies GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Heidelberg. The partnership formalizes a memorandum of understanding signed in December 2025.
The joint venture aims to deliver autonomous drone defense and security systems across Germany and Ukraine in its initial phase. ONBERG will combine Ondas Autonomous Systems' counter-unmanned aircraft systems, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance, and autonomous security technologies with Heidelberg's manufacturing capabilities and European production infrastructure.
The venture plans to establish local sales, development, and industrial production in Germany, with expansion of Heidelberg's Brandenburg an der Havel site into a center for autonomous defense systems. ONBERG intends to begin with marketing and deployment of Iron Drone Raider and ISR platforms in Germany and Ukraine, progressively expanding into EU markets with localized assembly and manufacturing.
"This joint venture represents a significant step in Ondas' strategy to localize production and strengthen sovereign defense capabilities within allied nations," said Eric Brock, Chairman and CEO of Ondas.
Jürgen Otto, CEO of Heidelberg, stated the joint venture represents "the logical next step in the strategic expansion of our dual-use business" and noted the company's ability to scale industrially in Europe.
ONBERG plans to industrialize production in Germany using European supply chains, expanding from distribution and integration to localized assembly and full manufacturing. The joint venture will support high-volume demand and contribute to development of a sovereign European defense industry.
The information is based on a press release statement from the companies.
